Write a proposal
As an Air-Trak sales manager, one of your responsibilities is to write sales proposals for prospective buyers of your company’s Air-Trak tracking system. This system uses a global positioning system (GPS) to track the location of vehicles and other assets. For example, the dispatcher for a tracking company simply clicks on the map display on a computer screen to find out where all the company’s trucks are at the time. Air-Trak provides the following list as a benefit of the system:
• Ensure the vehicle follows the specified route with minimal loosening time.
• “Geofencing”, where dispatchers are alerted if the vehicle leaves the specified route or specified service area.
• Route optimization, where fleet managers can analyze routes and destinations to find the most time and fuel efficient path for each vehicle.
• Comparison between actual travel schedules and itineraries.
• Enhanced security, protecting the driver and cargo.
Your task: Write a short proposal in a letter format to Doneta Zachs, fleet manager for Midwest Express, 338 S.W. 6, Des Moines, Iowa 50321. Introduce your company, explain the benefits of the Air-Trak system, and propose a trial application where you will equip five Midwest Express trucks. For the purpose of this assignment, you don’t need to worry about system technical details; focus on promoting benefits and soliciting decisions related to test projects.
