To start the course off, and to broaden your horizons, students will research what the acronyms ‘PEPFAR’, ‘CDC’, WHO, ‘ASCP’, NCLEX-RN, stand for. For students majoring in other health professions feel free to share your accreditation/certification body and acronym. There are many aspects to PEPFAR and you will each have different responses.    

2. The JCAHO Patient Standards can be found by researching through “Google”. Although this information is not in your textbooks- as health care providers and consumers we all need to be aware of what is going on in our hospitals to protect our health. Each of you are to post comments on any of the Patient Safety Goals for 2009 or later. If you have had experience with one particular goal feel free to share your experiences. You will all have different responses this week.
