The Sport department at a school purchased gears for different sports: Football, Netball, and Athletics. A gear for a particular sport consist of three different components. The total expenditure spent on sports for the last five academic years are given in the table below.
1. Select a sport played at a particular level and identify three components of gears used and the estimate annual cost incurred for this particular sports for a particular year.
2. Consider these two variables: cost and the quantity of each component that you want to investigate. Decide on which variable you would know and which you would need to find out.
3. Define the unknown variable in operationalize terms for each component of the selected gear. Example Let price of each component be given a variable name
4. Decide and state how many persons you would invite for training each year. Hence develop a matrix to indicate the minimum number or value of components that you know for each of the given five (5) years.
5. Assuming a realistic estimated yearly cost to fund the sport, develop a system of three equations with the information given for three successive years.
6. Use an appropriate method to solve the system of equations for the desired variables
7. Give an interpretation for the solution.
8. Give two (2) assumption that you had to consider in order to generate a solution for the system.
