Read the “Henry Schein case” and write strategic objectives and alternatives.
For each of the issues identified as critical in the previous section, this part of the presentation explicitly identifies objectives to be sought and a set of strategic alternatives for dealing with the issue. While no guideline on the number of alternatives may be given, a minimum of three is generally needed. It then examines the relative strengths and weaknesses of each of the alternatives in addressing the issue. The option of continuing current strategy should be included in the alternatives. The examination requires looking at the various strategy levels: corporate (when appropriate), business, and functional. Again, justification for alternatives, criteria for choices and the evaluation of the alternatives are critical.
