“Hmmm,” Stephanie muses, “Maybe going with a bank is a better idea, because I know that Brenda would want to be actively involved and she and I don’t always have the same ideas.”
Victoria offered, “Why don’t you give me your bank pitch – how you think you’ll sell the bank on giving you a loan – and I’ll give you a critique.”
Stephanie thinks a few minutes and the starts, “I think I’d start out telling them what my business is going to be and why I think I’m different. I’ve got stuff on who my competition is and how the market is growing. I can tell them what I have saved already and show that I’ve always been good at paying back what I’ve borrowed. My business plan shows that I should be able to pay off my loan as I should be profitable in the first year and actually have a positive cash inflow almost from the beginning. If, for some reason, I can’t make payments, nearly everything I borrow will be invested in raw materials – materials, objects d’art, pictures, etc. and could be repossessed and sold.”
