- Arras Excavating does excavation for new construction in Alhambra, a city in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Alhambra is landlocked and there is little undeveloped land within the city limits. Bob Arras has seen his sales erode and noted that three of his main competitors have gone bankrupt or moved to other cities further out from Los Angeles.
- Arlyn’s Shell Service Station is located on a major intersection in Pomona, another Los Angeles metropolitan area city. On two of the other corners of the intersection are other service stations. Arlyn speculates that within 10 block of his location there are probably another 20 gas stations. He’s recently added some carry out food and a dry cleaning drop off point to his station in order to steal customers from other locations and he’s thinking about dropping the price of his car wash once again.
- Appraisal Concepts is an on-line appraisal company, possibly the first of its kind. Currently business is slow, but Samantha, the owner, is working hard to let new customers know who they are and what they are able to do for them.
- At Home Health Care has just opened a new office in Glendora. They provide caregivers to live-in, mostly for older patients or terminal patients who do not wish to leave their homes. The population of Glendora is relatively old and well-to-do and the phone has been ringing off the hook since they ran their first ad.
