Kofi and his household owned a house at East Legon in Accra. The house was insured with a fire insurance policy issued by Star Assurance Company. On April 1, Kofi moved to Kumasi, however, his son Kwame remained in the East Legon house for an additional month. Thereafter, the house was rented to a tenant who lived in the house for the month of May. Kofi returned to the house irregularly, remaining overnight on July 4 and on a few other occasions.
