It is required to minimize the machining forces (N) of the given machining process using 23 Factorial Design of Experiment technique. An Industrial engineer is investigating the effect of cutting speed and feed on the machining force during machining process. The Cutting Speed (A), Feed Rate (b) and Depth of Cut (c) are the three factors that influence on the machining forces during the process. Two cutting speed of 50 m/min and 80 m/min, Feed rate of 0.25 and 0.5 mm/min and depth of cut of 0.75 and 1.25 mm respectively are selected. The response variable (Machining force (N)) is measured using a Mill tool dynamometer on each test component.
The experiment is replicated by three times (n=3) and labelled values of (1), a, b, ab, c, ac, bc and abc are shown in the below Table 1.
In this regard plan the experimentation and prepare a report including the following:
B 1.1 Description of given machining process
B 1.2 Development of experimental layout and Rationale for selection of three vital parameters that can be varied in three levels
B 1.3 Estimate the effect of each factor and find the large factor.
B 1.4 Perform the Analysis of variance (ANOVA) using “23 factorial design method” using the tabulated machining forces (N) (Table 1: labeled Values)
B 1.5 Identification of significant parameters using AVOVA table. (Use α= 0.05).
B1.6 Comments on the optimum process parameters
