1. You have explored the importance of the involvement of staff in the planning and implementation process of change. Clearly, this is a complex issue in that obviously a leader has to make decisions in that every staff member cannot be involved with every decision. With that said, when it comes to advancing significant levels of change, there are certain conditions when the entire staff can and should be engaged both in the planning process and in the execution phase of change. Describe how and when the entire staff should be utilized pursuant to the recommendations from this module. Secondly, reflect on what has it been like when the staff has been engaged or involved pursuant to the recommendations in this module? What happens when they aren’t involved?
2. Every leader has to give thoughtful consideration to how much time change should take. Certainly, there are some elements of change that take longer than others. However, levels of inertia can also set in wherein the change is slow to happen because of the simple unwillingness to get started. There are some steps that leaders can take to create a greater sense of urgency in terms of planning and can accelerate execution as well. Describe some of the strategies as articulated in the readings and reflect on your own observance of those strategies with groups or teams you have either observed or been part of.
